Why Measure?

ROI is rapid with Users quickly benefiting from a more controlled drying or frying operation resulting in increased productivity and more consistent high quality product in terms of taste, appearance and texture, lower utility bills and less wastage/re-work of raw materials.

The addition of fat, protein and other non-moisture measurements within a single gauge either on or off-line, will provide savings in terms of reducing the volume of routine laboratory testing and enabling faster corrective action to be taken.

Sensor

The MCT 460 is available in either a powder coated cast aluminium enclosure or a food grade electroless nickel or stainless steel enclosure, the MCT 360-FG. The standard enclosure is IP65 rated, and as such, is dust and splashproof, please note that the instruments cannot be pressure washed. The MCT 330SF is an alternative gauging solution in the event a gauge is likely to be spray washed or located in an environment where the temperature can rise to, and remain at 60-65 °C.

Accessories

A Snorkel Sampler or a Sample probe is available for measurement within a vertical chute or on a spray dryer, and a sight window can be useful if the product is conveyed in enclosed ducts. Air purge diffusers will keep the gauge window dust and oil free, and a vortex cooler will ensure reliable continuous operation in hot locations( ambient temperature > 50 °C) such as the exit of a fryer or oven.

Gauge outputs, Operator interface & Display

The MCT 360 is available with or without a local operator interface or display, as all the processing is carried out within the sensor head and the measurement is output via 4-20mA, 0-10V, RS232, RS485 or any bus. Installation time and effort is minimised by dispensing with a local OI, but should samples be collected for cross checks an OI is useful in this event, one could be simply plugged into the gauge at the sampling location.

The Measurement

Gauges are delivered pre-calibrated wherever possible using customer samples or existing samples at our Production or UK site. Measurements are typically calibrated as a % of wet weight but the MCT 360 can be configured to display the actual measurement as % wet weight or % dry weight. In addition to moisture PSC offers oil /fat, protein, caffeine and colour, accuracy of all measurements is application specific. For further information on your application, please contact PSC.
